Farnsworth House is the ultimate modernist pavilion with its floor to ceiling glass and minimal structural framework. It was designed by Mies Van der Rohe and completed in 1951. It sits on a 55 acre site outside of Chicago and next to the Fox River. It was designed as a “get away” for the poet and physician Edith Farnsworth. Despite the buildings critical acclaim the structure proved impractical; constantly too hot or too cold, lacking in privacy and susceptible to flooding! We love the building and are very proud of our reproduction.

Address: 14520 River Rd, Plano, IL 60545, USA

Our model is produced in plaster and wood and displayed under an acrylic case.

Sustainably Crafted

We all want the world to be a better place. We are trying to do our bit. We reuse, recycle and use less where we can. We search out sustainable local suppliers. We sponsor grassroots sports for the local youth, donating both money and time. We sponsor local environmental projects. We know we can do more but we're making a start!

Handmade

We hand make all of our models. Chisel & Mouse is the combination of an artisan’s approach (the chisel) with modern innovation and transformative technologies (the mouse). By capturing life and its big ideas in miniature, the brand celebrates the beauty of our industrialised world.
