Bankside Power Station was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. Its enormous chimney dominates the structure and makes it an unmistakable London landmark. Bankside Power Station is 200 metres long, steel framed and brick clad with a substantial central chimney standing 99 metres tall. The chimneys’ height were limited to less than the spire of St Paul’s Cathedral which stands on the opposite side of the river.

Gilbert Scott’s modernist approach also created some of the most recognisable windows of any London landmark and it is the awesome form of these windows that we have chosen to represent in an architectural sculpture.

Address: Bankside, London, SE1 9TG, England.
