Berlin Cityscape — 3D Map of Central Berlin
Berlin is a city shaped by rupture. Baroque avenues and grand 18th-century squares sit alongside Wilhelmine blocks, post-war reconstruction, Cold War concrete, and the reunification-era architecture that flooded the city after 1989. No other European capital carries its history so visibly in its streets — and few reward the bird's-eye perspective of a 3D map quite so well.
This model spans the historic core of central Berlin at 1:5000 scale, from the Museumsinsel in the east to the Brandenburg Gate in the west, with the Spree winding through the middle. Cast in white resin and mounted in an oak frame, it works equally well on a wall or displayed flat on a desk or tabletop.
The area
The model stretches from the Museumsinsel — the island within the Spree that holds five of Berlin's great museums and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site — westward to the Brandenburg Gate, the neoclassical triumphal arch that stood stranded in the no man's land between East and West Berlin for nearly three decades. Between them, the Spree winds through the frame, and the Baroque street grid of Friedrichstadt spreads to the south. The area captures more than eight centuries of development in a single frame: from the medieval origins of Cölln and Berlin on opposite banks of the Spree, through the Prussian capital's Baroque expansion, the destruction of the Second World War, and the divided city's contrasting approaches to reconstruction on either side of the Wall.
