New York Cityscape (L) — 3D Map of Lower Manhattan at 1:2500

This is the New York Cityscape at twice the scale. The area is identical — the southern tip of Manhattan, from the pre-grid organic lanes of the Financial District down to Battery Park, with the Hudson to the west and the East River to the east. But at 1:2500 the contrast that makes this model so compelling becomes genuinely arresting: the narrow, irregular streets of old New Amsterdam visible in real detail beneath the footprints of some of the tallest buildings on earth.

At this scale Lower Manhattan stops being a map you glance at and becomes one you read.
